Infections like colds and flus, that is.
If you have MS, you know that these common maladies can be tougher on you than others who don’t suffer from a chronic illness. So follow these tips to cut down on getting sick.
First tip: Wash your hands! Some germs are good and actually protect you, but think about how much hygiene improvements have improved longevity and take your cue from that. Don’t become obsessive, but try to wash your hands after taking public transport, after a meeting where you shake lots of hands, and before eating. (Please don’t tell me that I have to remind you to wash your hand after using the bathroom…)
Next tip: Ask your doctor about getting a flu vaccine. They really do work.
Final tip: Consider drinking unsweetened or low-sugar cranberry juice to help prevent urinary tract infections which can be common in MS patients.
